|TITLE||Minimal Surfaces and Quantization|
|ABSTRACT||Several examples involving minimal surfaces in their relation with theoretical physics are discussed, including the stability of the classical Catenoid and a well known Schr?dinger operator, rotating closed curves of “platonic” shapes and periodicity in string theory, the problem of finding certain minimal surfaces in S^3 formulated as a classical mechanics problem, and quantum deformations of ordinary functions on 2-dimensional surfaces in the context of extremal 3-manifolds in Minkowski space.
