TITLE Amplitude techniques for spinning objects in NRGR
ABSTRACT As the era of gravitational wave observatories has opened before our eyes, the need for theoretical tools to determine the waveforms to be compared with experimental data is steadily increasing. When two compact bodies are sufficiently far away from each other, their dynamics can be described by non-relativistic general relativity (NRGR), and this regime corresponds to a large portion of gravitational waves generated from binary merger that can be detected by the observatories. How modern techniques of quantum field theory (QFT) scattering amplitude computations can be applied to determining the NRGR dynamics will be reviewed in this talk. The talk will put emphasis on how loops in QFT contribute to classical dynamics as opposed to common belief, and how spinning classical objects can be treated using tools of QFT.
