String theory, quantum field theory, black holes

Jerome Gauntlett is a theoretical physicist at Imperial College, London. His principal research interests are broadly focused on string theory. His areas of study include black holes, quantum field theory and the rich interconnections between string theory and pure mathematics. He has also investigated how string theory techniques can be used to study exotic states of matter that arise in condensed matter physics. He was Head of the Theoretical Physics Group at Imperial from 2011-2016.
He has extensive experience in public communication of science and was the Theoretical Physics Consultant for the Oscar Award winning film about Stephen Hawking, The Theory of Everything.
